FAQ
A. Two words sum up why Aventures en Eau Vive is right for you. Experience and Hospitality. Having been in business for 29 years, Aventures en Eau Vive has refined the sport of Rafting on the Rouge River. We are one of the founding outfitters who scouted the Rouge 10 years before establishing a commercial presence back in the early 80's. We put a great deal of time and effort behind the scenes to make sure your rafting experience with us is one to remember. In addition, our professional staff & passionate guides offer guests a friendly and hospitable environment both on and off the river.
A. You do not need previous experience to enjoy a rafting trip with us. Aventures en Eau Vive uses only commercial quality rafts, which are specially designed for whitewater descents. Your professional bilingual guide will provide a comprehensive introduction to the equipment and safety drills on the river empowering you to tackle the rapids with confidence.
A. Rafting is thrilling, exciting, wet, wild and unbelievably fun. However, as in all adventure sports, there is an inherent risk involved. That risk contributes to the excitement, and is one of the reasons people enjoy it so much.
As a professional rafting outfitter, our job is to minimize that risk through preparation, guide training, and high-quality equipment. Our professional guides are certified in First-Aid CPR, Wilderness First Aid and Swift water Rescue, many with over 10 years of rafting experience under their belt. In addition, Aventures en Eau Vive has made a substantial investment in high performance equipment to enhance the overall quality or your rafting experience. However there is still a risk, and you must accept these risks before embarking on your trip, by singing a liability release form.
A. You must weigh at least 41kg (90lbs.), know how to swim and be of good health. Persons who are extremely overweight, or have a chest size over 52 inches (our life jackets largest size) cannot participate in our Rafting trips. A parent or guardian must give permission for an unaccompanied minor (aged 17 years or younger) to participate in any of our activities. All participants must sign a liability release form, which are made available during the morning check in the day of your trip.
A. The Rouge river is one of North Americas most versatile free flowing whitewater recreational rivers. Allowing for excursions of all kinds throughout the year and at various water levels. Spring, Summer or Fall are great times to go on a rafting trip with Aventures en Eau Vive. Some seasons offer different experiences. For instance;
In spring, the Rouge's water levels are at their highest from the snow-melt and spring rains . During this time we run the Canyon Section twice to take advantage of some challenging rapids like "Canyon", "Confusion" and "Turbo" to name a few. We can't control mother nature therefore, the air and water temperatures can be quite cold. If you look stylish in a wetsuit, and like B I G waves, then spring is the best time for you!
As summer sets in, the Rouge's flow is moderate and water temperatures start to increase. This is the best time of the season to try rafting for the first time. We typically run the Seven Sisters Section once departing directly from our base camp. And as the water recedes we run the bottom "Seven Sisters (Gorge)" section of the Rouge River twice.
Surprisingly, fall is another great time to go on a rafting trip. Water levels may fluctuate with rainfall, and the fall colors make an exquisite backdrop to your rafting day.
